Philosophy of Education
Philosophy of Coaching
My
desire to coach is a direct result of my positive experiences in athletics
during middle school, high school, and college. I want to have a
hand in developing teams and individuals that have positive experiences
similar to mine. I believe that to be an effective coach I need to
do three things for my athletes and teams. The first is that I must
have a solid knowledge base of the sports or sports I am coaching.
This allows for the athlete and/or team to have confidence in my leadership
and direction. Secondly, I value each and every athlete for the person
that they are. I want my athletes to understand that my relationship
with them is not purely driven by their ability to perform a sport, but
their positive attributes that makes them an unique human being.
After that I enjoy their contributions to the team and as an individual.
Lastly, I must have a vision that is shared by the individuals and athletes
on my teams. I must be able to convey and have a plan to meet the
goals that I set forth. By doing this I ensure that my athletes can
take part in, or even take over, the dream that I have for any one particular
athlete or team.
